Biography
Daryl Perry is a sophomore from Silver Spring, MD studying journalism at the University of Maryland. His interests include writing, photography, and filmmaking. His writing aims to express personal opinions on internet culture and entertainment and convey the stories of Generation Z through profiles on social media influence and its connection to self and others. His filmmaking explores the intersections between political ideology, religion, and identity.
As a College Park Arts Scholar, Daryl intends to learn more about different mediums of art outside of his interests through guests artists and colloquium activities and use these new skills as part of his sophomore Capstone project. As part of his extracurriculars, he plans on being further involved in Interfaith, a group of students across religions that learn from each other and complete service projects together. His academic goals include completing a senior journalism Capstone project with the Central News Service to have hands-on experience working full-time as a reporter.
After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a minor in Creative Writing, he plans to work at a magazine as a staff writer or photographer using his skills to tell stories and connect with people.
