Literary Submissions

by montse

drunk poetry

i’ll write drunk poetry to you.

the kind where words are just spilled

on paper like coffee beans in a cup.

the kind of poetry that only shows and does not tell nor does it lie.

let me write you an endless verse without

music because your smile is the

only melody that i care to hear. i’ll hold the

curves of your waist like the finest

violin. i’ll play you like the great musicians,

and i’ll pour my soul out just for you to hear.

i’ll give a meaning to this mess we call

life but only if your name describes

this mess we call love

Yesterday, you asked me

Yesterday you asked me

to send you the things

that reminded me

of you

but darling, if i

were to truly send them

you’d end up the owner

of the

stars that remind me of your laughter,

owner of the sea that reminds me

of your undulated hair.

honey you’d end up the owner

of that

specific patch of grass where

i’d like to lay next to you as we

watch the pieces of your laughter and try to name

them all and make up names for the ones we don’t know.

you’d end up the owner

of the

mountains that remind me

of your hips when they sway to the beat

of whatever music you’re listening to

the music itself reminds me

of the

songs you recommended and said

that i could summon you by just singing

a few verses.

dear you’d end up the owner

of my own

heart’s palpitations

that remind me that i am alive

in the same timeline as

you. i’d send all the ants,

fruit, leaves and rocks

if i could.

but sadly, the shipping

fee’s

          expensive.
